Velvet Taco, which started on Henderson Avenue in Dallas just over 10 years ago, is expected to reach 100 restaurants by 2026. Here's a look at where the company is expanding in D-FW, outside of Texas, and internationally.
Dallas fast-casual restaurant Velvet Taco will grow to “north of 100 restaurants” by 2026, says CEO and president Clay Dover. The company has been on a rapid expansion plan since Leonard Green & Partners acquired a majority stake in the company from L Catterton in November 2021.
Leonard Green is a private company, and the terms of the deal were not disclosed. L Catterton kept a minority stake in Velvet Taco, as did Front Burner Restaurants (now FB Society), the local company that created the funky taco shop at Dallas’ Knox-Henderson in 2011.
